چکیده

The popularity of Peer-to-Peer networks is increasing rapidly but developing new protocols for P2P systems is a very complex task as testing and evaluating distributed systems involves high effort. P2P simulators are being developed to tackle this difficulty, to reduce cost and to speed up development. We describe HiSim, a modular and highly scalable P2P network simulator based on the simulation framework PeerSim which we use to simulate HiSbase, a P2P framework for efficient processing of multidimensional data. Because of its modular design, HiSim can easily be extended, e.g., to fit other application domains. Basic design problems, related to query processing, are introduced in general and concretely solved within HiSim. Additionally , HiSim provides mechanisms to evaluate new protocols using an integrated statistics component. We demonstrate the high scalability by performing simulations of up to 2 · 10 4 peers and 2 · 10 7 queries.

PeerfactSim.KOM: A P2P system simulator - Experiences and lessons learned

Research on peer-to-peer (p2p) and distributed systems needs evaluation tools to predict and observe the behavior of protocols and mechanisms in large scale networks. PeerfactSim.KOM1[1] is a simulator for large scale distributed/p2p systems aiming at the evaluation of interdependencies in multi-layered p2p systems. The simulator is written in Java, is event-based and mainly used in p2p researc...

P2P Network Trust Management Survey

Peer-to-peer applications (P2P) are no longer limited to home users, and start being accepted in academic and corporate environments. While file sharing and instant messaging applications are the most traditional examples, they are no longer the only ones benefiting from the potential advantages of P2P networks. For example, network file storage, data transmission, distributed computing, and co...

3LS - A Peer-to-Peer Network Simulator

Peer-to-Peer (p2p) networks are the latest addition to the already large distributed systems family. With a strong emphasis on self-organization, decentralization and autonomy of the participating nodes, p2p-networks tend to be more scalable, robust and adaptive than other forms of distributed systems. The much-publicized success of p2pnetworks for file-sharing and cycle-sharing have resulted i...

A Novel Caching Strategy in Video-on-Demand (VoD) Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Networks Based on Complex Network Theory

The popularity of video-on-demand (VoD) streaming has grown dramatically over the World Wide Web. Most users in VoD P2P networks have to wait a long time in order to access their requesting videos. Therefore, reducing waiting time to access videos is the main challenge for VoD P2P networks. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for caching video based on peers' priority and video's popula...
